Fe is a tutelary god, Gai (Ivory Coast, West Africa). According to tradition he arbitrated a dispute between two tribes, the Chuilo and the Nyaio. The Nyaio were eventually defeated so Fe became a special god among the Chuilo people and propitiated in a dance where a terrifying mask is worn. A.G.H.
